Kittycat Black Chokers, Corsets & Clothing are seeking goth/rockabilly/alternative models to model Kittycat Black jewelry for an upcoming photoshoot with Kate O'Brien Creative Photography (http://www.eyecandyforthebrokenhearted.com and http://www.flickr.com/photos/eyecandyforthebrokenhearted/sets/).

We are looking for models who are willing to model in exchange for $210 worth of Kittycat Black jewelry from our current range (excluding corsets, clothing or custom jewelry). Check out our range at www.kittycatblack.com.

We are after a few different looks which may not be what you'd expect so please remember this is open to anyone... (plus sizes welcome too... my larger sized chokers fit necks up to 42cm). Piercings, tattoos and unusually coloured hair can be a plus but if your look is a little more tame that's great too.

Send some photos of yourself with any links to online portfolios, websites or MySpace profiles to sharon@kittycatblack.com. :)

(From elsewhere, apologies if you've seen ot before)
I think, from my position as terminal outsider, that there needs to be some sort of push for event notices, information, links to meetups, MySpace pages etc that people can wander through. I know there's free stuff on all the time. I know there's not terribly expensive stuff on all the time, but I have enough trouble finding out about things I'm directly interested in, let alone things I'd go to if I just feel the urge to get out of the house.

Time and again I hear abour things that I'd have probably gone to if I'd had more than a couple of weeks notice, or that I'd expect to link to other similar events/groups. As often as not I hear about them after the event.

On the net, I have friends all over the world, pretty much everywhere outside Oz there are central sites (or clusters) that provide a rich source of links to groups, events, venues, people and subcultures/societies. Brisbane/SEQ is some 3 million people, some of these folk live in university towns a tenth that size.

Another thing I've noticed around Brisvegas is the Bare Bones Poster. That is advertising that is meaningless to outsiders. Sometimes no address/directions (you know where the venue is, right) often no pricing (if you have to ask you don't belong), seldom any public transport directions (transinfo has holes, often missing usable connections). And that's before you get to the whole if you don't know what kind of music Bob's Dick play (or even know there they're a band), why would we want you kind of poster/ad.

Kudos to Retro-Spekt on that BTW, a lot of other promoters could learn from them. Eyecatching posters with almost all the info on them, the Retro-Spekt team prove it isn't too hard for us poor retarded Brisbanites.

I was just wondering if any of you guys had any different and interesting restaurant/cafe recommendations (eg Garuva) or info about any kinds of cool dinner date options. For example we heard about a dinner date where you get to row a kayak (nothing too sporty) up the river to a little restaurant where they serve you a special dinner. I'm sure there are a bunch of places here in Brisbane we have yet to discover. I'm asking because my husband and I have just had a baby and we've been taking every Saturday night off (leaving him with the grandparents) and going out to dinner. Since it's our only night out these days we're looking for unique and different things to do. Nothing is too unusual but any regular restaurant recommendations are also great! ^_^ Thanks guys!

Hi there!

Is anyone familiar with this Institute?  They offer a complete Diploma or Cert III in Children's Services by way of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) - "a process that recognises people can learn informally through work and life experiences as well as through formal education and training."  Basically I can get my Diploma for $70 per subject with just a supervisor ticking in the right places and paying the fees.  Has anyone done this through this place?  Checking if it's legimate or not before I hand over any cash!

Thanks
A

I’m a Brisbane journalist working on a story about sex workers (in particular, those who work in a brothel).  If that’s you, or you know someone who might be willing, I’d love to have a chat to gain some insight and help with information.

It’s not an attack on the industry or you, completely anonymous etc.

Send me an e-mail (shannon.molloy@gmail.com) or comment here.  Thanks in advance.
